Here’s a recap of tonight’s ACM (Academy of Country Music) Awards red carpet. It’s the best and the worst of the night. What I loved and what I hated. I didn’t hold back. My thoughts on the worst reflect my opinions about a look or an outfit not anyone personally. If I’ve said it once I’ll say it again, “if you don’t want someone to say you wore a bad dress, then don’t wear a bad dress.”

Best

Tenille Arts in this custom Dolce & Gabbana was my favorite look of the evening. The look was finished with David Yurman jewelry, Tyler Ellis clutch and Stuart Weitzman bronze sandals.

Kelsea Ballerini in Dolce & Gabbana. What’s great about this look is that it is both pretty and sexy. Hard combination to achieve.

Mickey Guyton, the history making co-host hits the red carpet in a beautiful beaded Naeem Khan gown worn with Stuart Weitzman pumps.

Carly Pearce in a Monique Lhuillier gown and Anabela Chan jewelry. This was really pretty in it’s simplicity. While I tend to be a maximalist, in this case less is perfect.

Maren Morris in a rose gold LBV gown that evokes images of old Hollywood glamour – Jean Harlow and Carol Lombard immediately come to mind.

CeCe Winans in a beautiful black cocktail dress with an embroidered floral pattern. I can never get enough of a winter floral.

Nicole Hocking was able to successfully combine multiple trends in one look without it being overwhelming. The padded shoulders, cutouts, brooches and statement earring in all white work very well together.

Lee Brice looked fantastic in this charcoal suit from Levy’s. The pocket square is a great touch! Many of other men need to take a lesson.

Thomas Rhett in Dolce & Gabbana is another example of a relaxed look that works and looks great. Again love the pocket square.

Old Dominion. The guys looks great. I wish I knew who the designers were. Excellent showcase of individual personalities, tastes and style while still looking cohesive as a group. And I might add they look cohesive without looking like a page out of a catalog. Well done!

Little Big Town’s Jimi Westcott hits the red carpet wearing Theory. And looks great doing it. I love the pop of color under the dark suit.

Worst –

I loved Miranda Lambert’s turquoise jewelry. I can only assume that another famous Miranda, Priestly, would be horrified that it was paired with this awful denim on denim look.

Leslie Jordan in Manuel. The artistry is beautiful but the look is too much and it’s overwhelming. The jacket is too long as are the sleeves. This isn’t a flattering look.

Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town in a Stella McCartney gold pleated mini-dress which I don’t hate on its own. I do hate it with the Casadei grey suede over the knee boots.

This looks like an ill conceived and poorly executed costume. Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman in Carolina Herrera.

This feels more like an Elvis impersonation. A bad Elvis impersonation. Elle King and Miranda Lambert in custom Dolce Bestia jumpsuits and leather jackets and Stuart Weitzman boots. I get they’re performance peices but I’m not a fan.

Where do I start? Dierks Bentley in Flag & Anthem, looks like he was inspired by the image on the packaging of Brawny Paper Towels. Lazy and disappointing. He could have put a little more effort into it. Not at all appropriate for the red carpet of a major awards show by a former host.

Devin Dawson – on the flip side this is effort gone wrong. I applaud the fact that he’s willing to take a fashion risk. Next time I hope he hires a stylist with better taste. I’d be happy to take a meeting.

Eric Church – the jacket is great but the look is lazy. There’s an old saying – there are two types of people that wear sunglasses indoors. He isn’t blind so does that make him the other?

Martina McBride’s legs are great! I wished she had showcased them in something other than a hideous dress. I’m on the fence with the disco gladiator sandals. I think they have the potential. With something else.

Love that Jimmie Allen took a fashion risk. The custom Travis Austin suit is great. It’s paired here with Air Jordans. Had it been styled differently if could have been a bigger fashion moment.

Was there an unspoken rule that exes had to wear Canadian tuxedos?

Ingrid Andress in Stella McCartney. Every time I look at this, and mind you I try not to, I keep thinking where are the plants? Not a fan of this macramé look. And what’s worse is that she looked so great at the GRAMMYs. Styled differently for something like Coachella and I’m in.
