Alexa Lipman,
When did you start painting? I started painting a year ago during the lockdown at the end of last February 2021.
How did you get started? The universe works in mysterious ways. My dear friend mentioned she was taking a virtual painting class. I thought it sounded fun and decided to sign up for a class. I discovered art as my new medium. Little did I know, I would be hooked and want to pursue it as an additional career. You never know what will be the source for your inspiration.Â
How did you decide on your artist name? My legal name is very long and my first name is “Michael” and the second name is “Alexandra.” I always thought the combination was pretty, and one day I would create something called Michael Alexandra. That being said, my artist name was born.
What are you focusing on?  I’m focusing on abstract paintings utilizing unlikely materials, some of them recycled.  What are you focusing on?  I’m focusing on abstract paintings utilizing unlikely materials, some of them recycled. Â
Any upcoming shows or exhibitions? I am planning a show that will hopefully be in the end of April/early May.Â
What’s your inspiration?  I am inspired by my surroundings, interior design and fashion. Considering I’m also a realtor, I see many styles of home decor. Fashion is another huge passion of mine. You really can get to know a lot about a person through what they wear and how they decorate their home.Â
Anything else I should know? There is art in everything. I believe we all have creativity within us. As children, we draw, play games and participate in all types of stimulating activities that evoke creativity. We don’t worry about others opinions and just create. My hope is that people get back into exploring their own creativity even if they just decide to do it as a hobby. It’s so therapeutic and might spark something unbeknownst to them.Â
