Patrons of the 2022 Ballet Ball braved the rain and cold to gather and celebrate the upcoming ball, “An Evening of Mid-Century Elegance” at the lovely home of Catherine and Frederick Grace. It was well worth it. I loved seeing everyone. I saw Lee Pratt and Neil Krugman on my way inside and then in quick succession I saw Emily Noel, Ballet Ball 2022’s Honorary Chair; Joanne Sowell and Brooke Trusley, Ballet Ball 2022’s Co-Chairs; and Bruce Pittman Ballet Ball 2022’s Event Planner. Bruce was stationed in the living room, thankfully, otherwise I would have missed the step entering into the room and who’s knows what would have happened. Pianist Michael O’Hara tickled the ivories as guests mixed and mingled. I enjoyed catching up with Vicki Horne, Holly Hoffman, Bob Deal, Jason Bradshaw, Jay Jones and Robb Turner. Forget Me Not Flower Shop and Designs’ Ashley Walters created the gorgeous rose floral arrangements.

I made my way to the bar, I know, I know, everyone is surprised I didn’t start there first. En route I nibbled on delicious hors d’oeuvres from Kristin Winston. I was able to catch up with Nancy Cheadle for a bit. I saw John and Julie Schneider, Melissa and Dave Mahanes and Suann Davis. Next stop, the dining room to look at the jewelry. Patricia Marie Fine Jewelry is generously donating 20% of their sales to Nashville Ballet from now until the ball. The jewelry is gorgeous. I am partial to the ruby serpentine ring if anyone is asking. I didn’t realize jewelry designer, Patricia Thacker’s arm was in a sling, that is until after I hugged her. Ouch! I was thrilled to see several former Ballet Ball Co-Chairs Sarah Reisner, Mary Morgan Ketchel, Allsion Cotton, Laura Currie and Laurie Eskind.  At the end of the evening patrons left with miniature bottles of Jack Daniels.

Now let’s talk fashion. If I am being honest, I was disappointed in a few people, they didn’t seem to know what cocktail attire is. On the flip side, I did notice a few trends that were specific to the event. The first was lace. Emily Noel was in a beautiful navy lace dress. Nancy Cheadle and Amy Joyner looked fantastic in their lace dresses. The second trend of the evening was red with Dallas Wilt leading the pack, in a red lace dress. Other notable ladies in red were Gail Greil, Katie Vasilopoulos and Brooke Trusley. And I love how Joanne Sowell and Brooke Trusley effortless represent the ball’s color scheme of red and gold. The best statement pieces of the evening were Mary Morgan Ketchel’s long black leather gloves and Elizabeth Waller’s brooch.
