Yesterday, multi-instrumentalist, music publisher and producer Derek Wells took the stage at the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum’s Ford Theater, as part of the museum’s weekly Musician Spotlight series. Wells was joined by special guests during the program, including Matt McGinn, Maren Morris and Jake Owen, and accompanied by multi-ACM award-winner Jimmie Lee Sloas on bass and Sam Skorik on drums.

Wells has contributed to more than one hundred #1 singles for artists, including Kelsea Ballerini, Kenny Chesney, Lady A, Maren Morris and Carrie Underwood, and as a producer, he has produced projects for HARDY, Scotty McCreery, Maddie & Tae and Lainey Wilson. Wells has been named the Academy of Country Music’s Guitar Player of the Year twice, was named MusicRow Guitarist of the Year in 2022 and has received multiple nominations for the Country Music Association’s Musician of the Year award.
During the museum’s Musician Spotlight programs, professional recording and touring musicians take the stage to perform and offer insight into their artistry and their instruments, from training and technique to style and inspirations. Each program also includes opportunities for in-person audience members to ask questions.
