Last week, my friend Darlene Dutton (we’ve known each other since her days at Jamie, now she’s at Gus Mayer) invited me to a Steeplechase event at Diamond Cellar. I’m so glad she did. I had a wonderful time. It was great to be out and see everyone. Store director, Meghan McKenzie looking tan and gorgeous in all white thought I moved to Los Angeles. Not completely true. I have expanded The Fashion Office into Los Angeles and will be dividing my time between here and there. I know how this started – I was asked to participate in a feature for a media outlet here. I told them I was interested but timing may be an issue because I was expanding my business into Los Angeles. They misunderstood and repeated what they thought to be true. Classic case of telephone. No harm done, it was an honest mistake and an easy one to correct. It was great to see Michael Gomez photographing everyone. I love what he is doing with Westlight Studio and am in awe. I loved seeing model, Sammi Moore – she has the best walk in town! I was able to catch up with Dave and Melissa Mahanes and hear about what they’re doing with Sophisticated Living. I was in one area most of the evening, right in front of Chanel Fine Jewelry naturally, so I didn’t get to see everyone who was there since I wasn’t moving around. I was able to chat a bit with Diamond Cellar owner Alex Johnson. Wes Davis and Zach Tamburin from Levy’s spotted me when I came in and I was able to chat with them as well. It was lovely to see Oakwood Cleaner’s Rhonda Wernick. As the event came to an end I was able to catch up a bit with David and Ellen Levy and Robin Rose. I am looking forward to more evenings like this and seeing everyone on the 26th at Iroquois Steeplechase!
The Good – it goes without saying that it was great to go out to a party again. Here’s what you missed and what was good. Really good. The bubbly. It never stopped flowing. The food. Flavor did a fantastic job. The server, very, very, very handsome would fall into this category too. It was so good to spend time catching up with people I haven’t seen in person for over a year. All around it was a wonderful party.
The Bad – aside from the weather (it rained heavily, off and on at the beginning of the evening) and that some people thought I moved to Los Angeles there were no complaints.
& The Glamorous – I was in the company of Chanel Fine Jewelry, Cartier, Hermes and Rolex. It doesn’t really get more glamorous than that.
