A client in Beverly Hills reached out with a question, “what will I serve my guests if I wear the vintage YSL?” If? I thought, that YSL is fabulous, she was definitely wearing it I had anything to do with it. I wanted to help so I ask a few questions. I found out she is hosting a Friendsgiving dinner and the guests of honor are a lovely French couple. Naturally I dubbed it Frenchgiving and have decided to coin that phrase. Eventually what to wear turned into what to serve so I helped curate this French-inspired Thanksgiving menu.

 

I suggested beginning the evening with cocktails naturally – Kir Royale and French Martini, followed by crudites with remoulade sauce. The meal starts with an elegant soup course – chestnut soup with bacon and chives. Adding just the right touch of French luxury for this holiday is a roasted turkey with black-truffle butter and cognac gravy. And on the side – mushroom, leek and brioche stuffing, haricot verts with shallots, hazelnuts, and tarragon and pumpkin gruyere gratin with thyme. Last but certainly not least, the meal ends with a fabulous dessert –salted chocolate caramel tart.

You may not want an entire French-themed meal but want a little je ne sais quois to add a little oh la la to this year’s table. I would suggest oysters in mignonette sauce, salade Lyonnaise, and of course stuffing the turkey with chestnuts!
