Nashville Soccer Club will take on Austin FC in the club’s first-ever visit to Austin, Texas on Saturday, Sept. 17. The Boys in Gold enter the weekend riding a season long five-match unbeaten streak in which they have outscored their opponents 15-2.

Nashville SC (12W-9L-10D, 46 pts.) enters Week 31 in fourth place in the Western Conference just three points shy of third place. With three regular season matches remaining, Nashville SC has an opportunity to make history by setting a club record 13 wins in a season with its next victory.

Earlier today Head Coach Gary Smith spoke to the media to preview the match against Austin FC, with goalkeeper Joe Willis discussing his recent form and his milestone mark of 200 MLS appearances, which he is expected to reach this weekend.

Nashville SC has never lost to Austin FC in club history (2W-0L-0D) with a +4-goal differential and never allowing a goal in the series history.

The Boys in Gold are set to meet Austin FC for the second time in two weeks, as the two sides met on Sept. 3 at GEODIS Park in a contest that saw Nashville earn a 3-0 victory with a game-winning goal from Walker Zimmerman and a brace from Landon Donovan MLS MVP frontrunner Hany Mukhtar.

Mukhtar has been sensational for Nashville down the stretch solidifying his MVP status. The German scored his 22nd goal of the season over the weekend, continuing his reign as the Golden Boot leader in MLS. Mukhtar has 33 goal contributions, the most in MLS and was the first player this season in MLS to have recorded double-digit goals and assists.

Overall, Mukhtar has scored 16 goals and recorded six assists in his last 14 games and has been involved in over half of Nashville SC’s regular season goals in club history (69 of 128).

Nashville SC Captain Dax McCarty is on the verge of MLS history with 436 MLS regular season appearances he is now one appearance shy of tying Jeff Larentowicz for second all-time for outfield players in league history.
