Head Coach B.J. Callaghan will make his Major League Soccer managerial debut after two Leagues Cup matches

Match marks first MLS fixture since July 20 following Leagues Cup

Nashville Soccer Club will host Austin FC at GEODIS Park Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. CT, presented by Hyundai, in the first and only regular season meeting between the clubs this season. Tickets for the match, which serves as Kick Childhood Cancer Night, are available at NashvilleSC.com/tickets.

Here are five things to know for Saturday’s match, available on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV and on Nashville SC’s flagship station 104.5 The Zone.

  1. Saturday night’s match at GEODIS Park is Nashville SC’s first Major League Soccer fixture since July 20 at Philadelphia due to Leagues Cup 2024 and the first of nine remaining regular season matches for the Boys in Gold, with four at home and five on the road.
  1. After debuting during Leagues Cup and earning their first result at the helm of Nashville SC in just their second match (a 1-1 draw at the New England Revolution), this weekend’s fixture marks the MLS managerial debuts of Head Coach B.J. Callaghan and First Assistant John Bello.
  1. The Boys in Gold are undefeated against Austin FC with a record of 2W-0L-1D, including shutout victories both times the clubs have met in Music City: 1-0 at Nissan Stadium on May 23, 2021 and 3-0 at GEODIS Park on Sept. 3, 2022.

  1. Nashville SC midfielder Hany Mukhtar is averaging one goal per-match with three tallies against the Texas side, including a brace in the team’s 3-0 shutout victory at GEODIS Park in 2022. That same season, Mukhtar and Austin forward Sebastián Driussi went head-to-head for the MLS Golden Boot award, with Nashville’s first Designated Player netting 23 goals to capture the honor along with the league MVP award.

  1. Goalkeeper Joe Willis has started all three of Nashville SC’s matches against Austin FC, conceding just one goal and securing two shutouts for a career-best 0.33 goals against average versus an MLS opponent.

Nashville SC joined Major League Soccer on Feb. 29, 2020 in front of the largest attendance ever recorded for a soccer match in the State of Tennessee.
