Nashville SC is currently riding a seven-match unbeaten streak, dating back to April 22. The Boys in Gold own a 5W-0L-2D record in that span, scoring multiple goals in five of the seven matches.
Earlier today, Nashville SC Head Coach Gary Smith and 2022 Landon Donovan MLS MVP Hany Mukhtar addressed the media ahead of Nashville’s match against FC Dallas. Coach Smith praised Dallas for their poise and composure while playing through the midfield and emphasized his pleasure with his group after earning consistent positive results during a tough stretch of matches.
Mukhtar discussed his recent form and how much success the team has had as a whole, the fine margins that come with winning and praised goalkeeper Joe Willis for his play this season and vouched for him to be selected to the 2023 MLS All-Star Game presented by Target.
Mukhtar has been unstoppable in 2023, leading the league in goal contributions with 16 (nine goals and seven assists) and has led Nashville to an 8W-1L-1D record this season when scoring a goal or recording an assist.
Goalkeeper Joe Willis has been sensational, leading the league in save percentage at 83.3%. Since joining Nashville SC in 2020, Willis has recorded four shutouts in six matches against FC Dallas.
A key for Nashville SC this weekend will be its ability to find the back of the net early and often. The Boys in Gold have not lost a match when scoring first since Aug. 8, 2021, and owns a 6W-0L-2D record this season when scoring first.
Following the match, the club will conduct its post-match media availability via Zoom. Footage will be distributed upon conclusion.
