Reigning Landon Donovan MLS MVP Nashville SC midfielder Hany Mukhtar was voted the Major League Soccer Player of the Matchday presented by Continental Tire for Matchday 11 of the 2023 MLS season.

Mukhtar recorded his third career MLS hat trick, second against Chicago Fire FC, scoring all three goals in the club’s 3-0 victory against Chicago Fire FC on Saturday, May 6 (Watch Highlights From His Performance Here). With Saturday’s hat trick, Mukhtar became just the eighth player in MLS history to score multiple hat tricks against the same opponent.

The German’s first hat trick against the Fire was also notorious, as it became the fastest in MLS history, occurring within a span of six minutes (10’, 13’ 16’) on July 17, 2021 at Nissan Stadium.

Since the start of the 2022 season, Mukhtar has produced seven multi-score games, which are the most by an MLS player over that timeframe. The German midfielder now has 11 goal contributions (six goals, five assists) in 2023, which is tied for the most in MLS, and has scored or assisted in four consecutive matches for Nashville SC.

Mukhtar has been Nashville SC’s Man of the Matchday five times throughout the 2023 MLS season, including a run of four consecutive weeks, spanning matchday 8-11. He has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday four times, including his multi-assist appearance over rival Atlanta United FC on matchday 10 en route to a 3-1 win.

Earlier this month, Mukhtar was announced as Tennessee’s Professional Player of the Year by the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame following his accomplishments in the 2022 season.
