I met Andrew Brewer this spring when I hosted the fabulous Giambattista Valli event at 20Twelve. Andrew founded the equally fabulous wine experience business, Lessons From the Vine which you can follow on Instagram at @lessonsfromthevine. Lessons From The Vine is a wine experience that focuses on connection, education, and entertainment for private events. Whether celebrating a special occasion in one’s home or entertaining clients and staff at corporate events, they can customize the perfect wine experience for you. I couldn’t think of a better way to kick-off and celebrate National Prosecco Week than to share his recommendations.

Andrew’s Journey in his own words, “After playing American football in Parma, Italy in 2014, the course of my life was altered. I fell in love with Italy and all things Italian. Especially the wine. Since then, I have spent the past 8 years studying wine and traveling the world to learn more about it. I eventually turned my passion for wine into a career, when I moved to Napa Valley and started managing tasting rooms. From all of this, I take my favorite adventures, memories, and life lessons from wine and impart it to others. I am passionate about people, genuine connection, and sharing meaningful experiences together. This is Lessons From The Vine.”

Andrew’s Prosecco recommendations –

  • FUSO Col di Luna – Prosecco Brut ‘Flora’ NV DOC: Do not let the bottle cap fool you! Flora is the real deal and a fantastic Prosecco. If you lean more towards a dry style of Prosecco with a bit of a personality and zip, then this is the wine for you. Flora is acid driven, fresh cut flowers on the nose, and notes of green apple and pear. Perfect with goat cheese, prosciutto and melon, or just sipping on the back porch on a hot summer day! Available at Woodland Wine Merchant (1001 Woodland Street in East Nashville and 4101 Charlotte Avenue in Sylvan Park) and Total Wine & More (330 Franklin Rd Suite 306C in Brentwood).

  • La Marca Luminore Prosecco Supiore DOCG: La Marca Prosecco is one of the more popular and highly distributed Prosecco in the US. However, the Luminore is the lesser known but more sophisticated, older sibling in the La Marca portfolio. It is not only a step up in classification (DOCG) but in quality as well. This wine was a pleasant surprise to me in a recent Prosecco tasting that left me eager to have another glass. You can expect to find some white flowers on the nose, with lemon zest, and an appearance of green and stone fruit. This is definitely a crowd pleaser! Available at Corkdorks (1610 Church Street in Midtown and 4009 Hillsboro Pike in Green Hills).

  • Nino Franco Prosecco Rustico NV: Last, but certainly not least, Nino Franco’s Rustico is an absolute stunner! This is my favorite Prosecco that I have had to date. It is extremely well balanced, elegant, and refined. Expect to find riper fruit notes like golden apple, white peach, and spring flowers. Bust out the seafood and grilled vegetables with this one. Rustico is a rock star and is absolutely delicious! Available at Corkdorks (1610 Church Street in Midtown and 4009 Hillsboro Pike in Green Hills) and Total Wine & More (330 Franklin Rd Suite 306C in Brentwood).
