When I moved back to Nashville after many years of living on the East Coast, mostly recently New York where I was in-house PR for fashion designer, I missed the fashion and the industry I had grown accustomed to and loved. Nashville didn’t have the fashion community it has now. My ray of sunshine was the fabulous Libby Calloway. She was styling these fantastic editorials for The City Paper. I looked forward to each new spread and continued to hope for change. She was one of the people whose vast contributions have changed the fashion landscape in Nashville.
My fashionable friend Libby has launched a new personality-driven webcast that goes into the closets of notable Nashville creatives. It is called Vicarious. New episodes drop every other Friday – the next one drops 4/30. Her first guest is supermodel Karen Elson. You can watch here.
In their debut episode, Karen talks about how her personal style has evolved over the years, from growing up in Manchester, England, to her early years as a high-fashion model, through her move to Nashville over 15 years ago, which issued in a new phase of her life that includes motherhood and activism. She shares a few of her favorite things in her closet, including her “pandemic uniform,” which centers around striped St. James T-shirts; a custom Lanvin gown made for her to wear to the Met Gala; and her favorite shoes, designed by her BFF, model-turned-designer Tabitha Simmons. Each interview is accompanied with photography by frequent Callaway contributor Emily Dorio.
