You can start celebrating Juneteenth early with an event at Tennessee State Museum on the 11th and continue through its observance on Monday the 20th. Don’t worry there’s a lot to do in between. To make it easier, we have curated a list of fabulous things to do!

June 11th, 10:00AM-4:00PM, Juneteenth Celebration, Tennessee State Museum, 1000 Rosa L. Parks Boulevard

While Juneteenth is officially celebrated on June 19, the Tennessee State Museum will celebrate the day with a day-long event on Saturday, June 11 that will enable us to include members of the Fort Negley Descendants Project, who will present one of the city’s biggest Juneteenth celebrations the following weekend at the park. This day-long event at the Museum, presented in partnership with the World AfriCultural Community Project, will feature music, dance, poetry and art, together with crafts and historic games. The day’s programming will include a screening and discussion by the Fort Negley Descendants Project, and the chance for visitors to interact with United States Colored Troops (USCT) reenactors Bill Radcliffe and Gary Burke and great-great grandson of Frederick Douglass, Kevin Greene. June 13th-19th, 10:00AM-4:00PM, Juneteenth Freedom Week Celebration, Franklin Justice and Equity Coalition, Franklin

Join the Franklin Justice and Equity Coalition for the Juneteenth Week 2022!! This year, we will be Celebrating the “History, Legacy, and Excellence” of Culture, Community, and the Church. Our week will Engage, Educate, and Empower us all as we Celebrate Juneteenth 2022. We will host the 1st Annual Juneteenth Summit on Wednesday June 15th. This event is free to everyone. On Friday the 17th we will host the 2nd Annual Juneteenth Gala, tickets are now on sale. Saturday will be our 3rd Juneteenth Celebration, Our second year in downtown Franklin. Join us for family fun at our inaugural Juneteenth Community Day and take advantage of FREE museum admission. Community day at NMAAM will feature educational program sessions and celebratory activities in an environment of inclusiveness that speaks to multiple generations. NMAAM will feature local artists through our emerging artists series, community partners in our Homegrown Room, and music educators through our From Nothing to Something program. June 18th, 10:00AM-2:00PM, Juneteenth Landscape of Enslavement Guided Grounds Tours, Historic Travellers Rest House Museum, 636 Farrell Parkway

In honor of Juneteenth, Travellers Rest invitess the public to participate in a staff-led demonstration of their newest research tool, The Travellers Rest Enslaved Persons Documentation Project. This interactive database contains transcriptions of primary source documents that provide information on the lives of those who were enslaved here.  A permanent addition to the Travellers Rest website, it is their hope that this database will assist descendants and researchers who seek to learn more about those who were enslaved at Travellers Rest. In addition to the demonstrations, they will offer a special 45 minute guided grounds tour: The Landscape of Enslavement. This guided outdoor tour focuses on the lives of those who were enslaved at Travellers Rest and those who lived and worked here post-emancipation.

NMAAM will celebrate Juneteenth, with a block party that will take place from 11am-4pm on Food Assembly’s Skydeck at Fifth and Broadway. The block party will include live performances from artists of different genres and celebrate the freedom that comes through musical expression. The event will be open to the public and free with RSVP, 21+ and over. RSVP here.
June 19th, 11:00AM Doors, 12:00PM Show, Music of Bob Marley for Kids + More w/ The Rock and Roll Playhouse Father’s Day and Juneteenth Celebration, Brooklyn Bowl Nashville, 925 3rd Avenue North
The Rock and Roll Playhouse, a family concert series hosted at historic music venues across the country, allows kids to “move, play and sing while listening to works from the classic-rock canon” (NY Times). Performing songs created by the most iconic musicians in rock history, The Rock and Roll Playhouse band offers its core audience of families with children aged ten and under games, movement, stories and an opportunity to rock out in an effort to educate children and explore their creativity. The Rock and Roll Playhouse is an early and often first introduction to a child’s lifelong journey with live music and rock and roll.

Juneteenth615 is back! One of Nashville’s biggest Juneteenth celebrations returns with music, food trucks, kids’ corner and FIREWORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Celebrate the national Juneteenth holiday at Fort Negley.
