This version of an Old Fashioned travels to the Emerald Isle and takes a different route – instead of using bourbon it uses whiskey. Specifically Irish whiskey. Jameson Black Barrel Irish Whiskey is highly recommended, having been aged 12 years in ex bourbon and sherry barrels, giving it far more depth and nuance.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Jameson Black Barrel Irish Whiskey
  • .25 oz honey syrup (2 parts honey, 1 part water)
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Garnish with a swath of lemon

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients.
  2. Add ice and stir until cocktail is chilled and properly diluted.
  3. Strain over ice into an old fashioned glass.
  4. Garnish with a swath of lemon.
