A Warner Robins native passed away unexpectedly at Houston Medical Center on Thursday, August 3, 2023. He was 52 years old.

Born on May 29, 1971, Brent grew up in Warner Robins, Georgia, where he graduated from Warner Robins High School in 1989. He studied at Macon College before earning his master’s degree at Lee College in Cleveland, Tennessee.

A significant portion of Brent’s life was devoted to Nashville State Community College, where he flourished in his role and ultimately earned the distinguished title of Executive Director. His tireless efforts to enhance education and foster growth left an indelible mark on both the institution and its students. Brent’s journey of service continued as he embraced the role of a consultant. From Elevation Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, to Long Hollow Church in Nashville, Tennessee, he shared his expertise and unwavering dedication. He starred in the second season of Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys for Sundance Channel.

He will be remembered as good-hearted and kind individual. He was one to never hold a grudge and would do anything for anyone in need.

Alberta Doochin remembers Brent – “Brent was Vice President of Development at The Hermitage when I joined the Board. I was to give the first official fund raiser and was a bit overwhelmed as it was to be a dove shoot that my husband would work on and I would take care of the parties that went along with the hunt. Brent helped me every inch of the way and we became fast friends. He just recently joined me at my home for lunch and to catch up. I loved him and will never forget his kindness.”

Brent was preceded in death by his parents, Benny Oscar Young and Carolyn Smith Young; and beloved pet dogs, “Tanner” and “Scooter.”

His memory will forever be treasured by his aunts and uncles, Brenda Smith Darnell of Warner Robins; Ken Smith (Lucy) of Forsyth; Gail Smith Hall (Steve) of Byron; Jane Young of Pensacola, Florida; Darrell Smith (Gina) of Warner Robins; as well as many close cousins and relatives.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at City Church Warner Robins. Afterward, Brent Oscar Young will be laid to rest privately in Magnolia Park Cemetery.

The family will accept flowers or donations may be given in memory of Brent Oscar Young to Church of God World Missions, P.O. Box 8016, Cleveland, Tennessee, 37320.
