This classic 1980’s cocktail is the drink equivalent of a melon Jolly Rancher. Thankfully, it isn’t overly sweet, it’s sweet-tart. The green with envy color comes from Midori, a Japanese melon-flavored liqueur that was introduced to the United Stares in 1978 at Studio 54 – a fitting venue given it’s hue. This elevated recipe substitutes the sour mix with fresh-squeezed lemon and lime.
Ingredients
- 1 ounce Midori
- 1 ounce vodka
- 1/2 ounce lemon juice, freshly squeezed
- 1/2 ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed
- Club soda, to top
- Garnish: lime wheel, maraschino cherry
Instructions
- Add the Midori, vodka and lemon and lime juices to a glass with ice.
- Stir to combine, then top with the soda water.
- Garnish with a lime wheel and a maraschino cherry.
Note: some recipes call for 2 oz. of Midori and no vodka.
