Tonight, the Country Music Hall of FameĀ® and Museum celebrated the opening of its newest exhibition Western Edge: The Roots and Reverberations of Los Angeles Country-Rock, presented by City National Bank, with Western Edge: Los Angeles Country-Rock in Concert.

An all-star lineup of musical luminaries associated with country-rock performed in the museumā€™s CMA Theater, along with torchbearers who have been influenced by the sounds and artists from the L.A. music scene.

Performers included Alison Brown, Kai Clark, Rodney Dillard, Jimmie Fadden, Rosie Flores, Jesse Furay Lynch, Richie Furay, Country Music Hall of Fame member Vince Gill, Jeff Hanna, Chris Hillman, Rob Ickes, James Intveld, John McEuen, Wendy Moten, Herb Pedersen, Al Perkins, Denny Sarokin and Watkins Family Hour.

The house band was led by guitar virtuoso and multi-instrumentalist John Jorgenson and included JayDee Maness (steel guitar), Steve Duncan (drums) and Mark Fain (bass). The event was emceed by longtime L.A. music journalist Randy Lewis.

Exclusive backstage interviews with many participating artists will air this weekend on SiriusXMā€™s Dwight Yoakam & the Bakersfield Beat’s “Western Edge” takeover on Prime Country (Channel 58) celebrating the opening of the exhibit. The concert will air on the channel later this fall.

The Western Edge exhibit, which is now open for a nearly three-year run, traces the L.A.-based communities of visionary singers, songwriters and musicians who, between the 1960s and 1980s, frequented local nightclubs, embraced country music, created and shaped the musical fusion “country-rock” and, ultimately, made a lasting impact on popular music. The exhibit features artists from the Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, Eagles, Rick Nelson, Country Music Hall of Fame member Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt to the Blasters, Rosie Flores, Los Lobos, Lone Justice, Dwight Yoakam and many more.
